She was very excited to go and had a wonderful time. That is, until she  returned from camp, hormones and all. She wasn’t in the house 5 minutes before  the front door flew open. As I came up the walk I saw clothes flying.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;“They’re RUINED!” she shouted.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;I was in a calm place – took the clothes  and told her that they would be OK.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Thought, “How would the best Mom possible  handle this?”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Texted her that the swimsuit was 100% OK  and the shorts were getting there. She texted back, “OK.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;When you come from a place of stress you  have 2% of your problem solving capacity available to you. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:180%;"&gt;2%! &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;So, how do we achieve a place of calm?  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ol type="1"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;DECIDE that you are Calm&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Say, “I choose to be calm, to be in  the moment.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ol type="1" start="2"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Walk Away&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Take a time out – like I did this  morning when my hormonal daughter  was out of control.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ol type="1" start="3"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Close Your Eyes/Meditate&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;I will meditate when I am at a stop  light, getting my hair cut, nails  done, etc. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;I explain what I am doing and shut  my eyes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ol type="1" start="4"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Be in the Moment&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;ALL your joy is in the moment – all  your opportunity. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Pay attention to what you are doing  in the moment. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Mindfulness reduces stress, overeating,  anxiety, depression, improves  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Health, increases joy and peace of  mind.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ol type="1" start="5"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Go Outside&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Nature has a way of calming and  enlivening us. Or, you could simply be too  tired, too worn, too overwhelmed.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;Either way, it’s your thoughts – your  brain that is giving you the problems, the challenges. It is not the situation.  It never is. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;What is troubling, challenging or sad  right now is here to teach you a lesson – to help you reach your wildest  dreams.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;And, if you resist whatever that is – it  will persist. &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;            &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;What do I need to do  NOW?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;            &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;What one step would change  this from WORRY to WONDERFUL? &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Notice what comes up&lt;/u&gt; – your work,  relationship, a project that needs preparation, an upcoming speech (OOPS –  that’s me!)&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol type="1" start="4"&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;ACT on the idea&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;u&gt;.&lt;/u&gt;  Just one little tiny baby step – to get you where you want to be.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Action &lt;/b&gt;will override the  inertia – it will help change the situation into a RESULT  in an area of your  life that needs attention.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol type="1" start="5"&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;Want Faster Than you Ever Thought Possible,” asks the question, &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;“What one great thing would you dare to dream if you knew that you could not fail?&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;Write down as many thoughts as come to your mind.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;“I weigh 135 pounds”&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;“I earn $100,000 per year.”&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;“I have a new home worth $300,000.”&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;Write until you run out of ideas.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt; &lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;2. &lt;u&gt;Take your top goal and write as many ideas as you can to achieve it.&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 19px; "&gt;Examples: &lt;span style="mso-tab-count:1"&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;(For weight loss)&lt;span style="mso-tab-count: 1"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:14.0pt"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-tab-count: 2"&gt;                   &lt;/span&gt;“I eat only when I am hungry”&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; If you “do” your  affirmations with this energy it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR3rK0kZFkg" target="_blank" avglschecked="1"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Calibri;font-size:100%;color:#0000ff;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?&lt;wbr&gt;v=qR3rK0kZFkg&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Make sure that you see part #1 and part  #2 – SO FUN! &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Don’t forget: use affirmations –  positive, personal, and present-tense statements to help you “look” for the  fun.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Affirmations keep you focused on what you  WANT. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;“I love TODAY – how will I have FUN  today” (5 year old you)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;AFFIRMATIONS #4 – YOUR GATEWAY TO  FUN!&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;One of my newest clients is constantly  “talking” to herself with affirmations and “catching” the thoughts that don’t  serve her. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;She notices her negative thoughts that  make her feel bad and CHANGES them to ones that feel good. &lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Example: Ginger the cat just jumped up on  my chair – a distraction.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;First thought about Ginger – &lt;i&gt;“I need  to focus on getting this written – go away Ginger.”&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Next thought – &lt;b&gt;“I CAN have FUN – and  Ginger the cat can be my joy, and calming influence.”&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Next thought: “This is a great way to  get my work done!”&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;STOP and re-focus on what could be.   &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;NOTICE:&lt;/b&gt; how you “treat” others is  what you are doing/saying to yourself!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;When I am intolerant of Ginger or  others, I am impatient with myself.&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;SHOW EVERYONE LOVE! I find it on-line or at “health food” stores. (Shouldn’t  ALL stores be health food stores?) &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;2 cups coarsely grated, packed   zucchini&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;¼ cup ground flax seed (optional)    &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;1 cup whole wheat flour         &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;1 cup white flour     &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;1 c. chopped walnuts&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Mix all of the above by hand in a large  bowl. Pour into bread pans that have been sprayed with Pam and floured, OR into  mini-muffin pans. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Bake the loaves at 350 degrees for 1  hour. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Bake the mini-muffins for 12-15 minutes. Notice your breathing,  and repeat a word or prayer silently to yourself as you exhale.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:85%;color:#333333;"&gt;3. Enjoy!  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: large; color: rgb(61, 61, 61); "&gt;Romaine or field  greens&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Large frozen &lt;u&gt;cooked&lt;/u&gt;  shrimp (5-6 per person)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Mandarin oranges  (canned)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Fresh strawberries (3-4 per  person)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Blue cheese  crumbles&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Sugared pecans,  chopped&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Balsamic vinaigrette  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Thaw shrimp as per package  directions. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Sprinkle thawed shrimp with  seafood seasoning (Old Bay or other)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Spray frying pan with olive  oil (Pam or similar) and sauté shrimp until warm.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Place washed greens in  bowl.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;color:#3d3d3d;"&gt;Slice strawberries and add  to greens with drained mandarin oranges, blue cheese and chopped pecans. Add  shrimp. When you FEEL good you are less  likely to overeat. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;My goal: help you to recognize your good  (and not so good) feelings and LIVE in the moment – that’s where all the JOY  is!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Your brain LOVES corny and cute – it  “re-programs” more easily that way!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;To change your brain for  FUN:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;            &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;“I am always on time for my  appointments”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;            &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;“I deserve the best!”  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; It goes quickly at pot lucks and you don’t need a lot of the dressing.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:180%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;u&gt;Crunchy Cole  Slaw&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;u&gt;Salad&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;½ cup slivered or sliced  almonds&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;½ cup sesame seeds (or you can use all  almonds, as I do)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;2 pkg. ramen noodles (break-up the  noodles in a plastic bag)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;      &lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;(- don’t use the seasoning  )&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;16 oz. Three Color Cabbage chopped  (not Angel Hair) &lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;1-2 Tbsp. butter or butter flavored  Pam spray&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;u&gt;Dressing&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;½ cup sugar (I use Splenda or  Stevia)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;½ cup Canola oil&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;¼ cup Apple Cider  Vinegar&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;2 Tbsp. soy sauce&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Brown first 3 ingredients in butter  (must stir &lt;u&gt;constantly&lt;/u&gt; or it will burn)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Cool&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Combine dressing and whisk until sugar  dissolves&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;(Note: don’t dump all the dressing  on the salad – this leaves you LOTS extra!)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Toss just before  serving!&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;(I make the ramen noodles &amp;amp;  almonds then freeze – if you have this and the dressing made ahead of time you  can have a last minute salad just by buying a bag of cabbage)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;Enjoy! &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Tip: &lt;/b&gt;– You CAN eat foods you love  and still lose weight! Mix the wet ingredients into the dry  ingredients&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;Add:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;1 ½ cups chopped walnuts&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;¾ cup dried cranberries, chopped&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;Optional: &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, chopped (I use  Ghirardelli or other high quality chocolate!)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;Bake in mini-muffin pans that have been sprayed with  “Pam” spray or similar for 15 minutes (conventional) or 12 minutes (convection)  or until lightly brown. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:130%;"&gt;Tip: freeze these and microwave at 50% power for 30  seconds. Great with coffee or tea! font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;They say that you teach what you need to learn.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;I teach self-love, connection and acceptance of what is as the doorway to re-training your brain and getting everything you want in life.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;So, starting today I am giving myself permission (why don’t you give yourself permission too?) to just ENJOY every moment!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; OK, you are forgiven. I did too.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;Ready for some strategies?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Here’s some ideas that DON'T work well&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol type="1" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Stay in bed thinking that you have the worst life ever&lt;/b&gt; and it’s all because of that turtle you had/dog that bit you/time your hair turned green. This way of thinking is blame – doesn’t work – let’s try again.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Get up and be grouchy&lt;/b&gt; – wait for something to change – again, not a great strategy. Ask “The Grouch” from Sesame Street. Everyone wants to be with Big Bird or Miss Piggy – they are just more fun.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;u&gt;Some steps to feel better right away:&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol type="1" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Say, “This is the best day ever!” and get moving.&lt;/b&gt; Your mind and body (but especially your mind) need instruction. To their question, “Which way do we go?” You can give the command, “To the gutter lads – the day is going downhill rapidly!” OR “This is the best day ever!” and like young children, your mind will start to look for the evidence of the “best day!”&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Play some music that you LOVE&lt;/b&gt; – right away. If you are like me, an early riser, then do this on your IPod as others will not be amused when they hear “Love Shack” blasting at 6am.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Get dancing.&lt;/b&gt; Yes, I know that it sounds silly. Silly works – and it feels good. ALLOW yourself to be silly! If not now, when? Do you need permission to be happy?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;And finally, &lt;b&gt;be in the moment&lt;/b&gt; – right now! Give yourself permission to look outside, go outside, be outside in nature and enjoy beauty.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; "&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:130%;"&gt;You can do this – you deserve the best!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; "&gt;“I know I am on the right track” – good thought&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 12pt; "&gt;“I will never lose weight because…” – lousy thought – and your excuses are just that – excuses and LIES!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 12pt; "&gt;Say, “I love and accept myself exactly the way I am”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 12pt; "&gt;You must constantly reinforce yourself with positive self-talk.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 12pt; I wasn’t supporting myself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I ended up face-to-face with chocolate cake (ate too much!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then I thought, “How can I tell women that I have the answer to overeating if I am overeating – emotionally eating?”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The answer: I am not perfect! (Yes, I do wish I were sometimes – but I am told that it would be boring).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was SO frustrated with my business. “Surely if I do X then Y should happen,” I thought. Well, if you have been in business long enough you know that “things always take longer than you think.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So I overate.&lt;br /&gt;Yes, I got out of it. But being in it is awful. And, you feel like you will NEVER get out of it. You believe that you must diet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But, diets don’t work! You need a permanent solution.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here is what saved me and can save you too:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I am aware that I am upset. And, I tell myself it is OK – I will figure it out (in between bites or when I choose to stop).So, even when I am overeating I am VERY aware that I am choosing to avoid a feeling.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I know that it is just a feeling – and I don’t have to eat my feelings. I can just feel them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I have decided NOT to beat myself up when I overeat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I ask, “What do I want? What do I want that food can never give me?” and I take a deep breath.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I journal.  When I do, the insights are amazing!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-If I don’t journal, I get away from the food and ask the question again. “What do I want?”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;-I TRUST myself not to go past a “+3” or “+4”. I know that I won’t go crazy and gain weight. It’s not a matter of, “Well, that didn’t work too well, so I will give up,” it’s a commitment to yourself. You say, “I can do this – no matter what.” And, it means that you expect that there will be times when you are not perfect - which is perfect! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You are in the middle of a learning process (it’s called your life) and you will repeatedly go down the “wrong” path in order to learn something that you must know to continue on your life’s (spiritual) journey. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe that we are all at the “perfect” place – we are all exactly where we should be on our path right now. I find this very comforting – as I am constantly questioning what I am doing, if it is the right thing, etc. in my business. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Next, forgive yourself!&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After you decide you must forgive – and learn to love yourself as well as you can. At every moment of your life you are doing the best you can with the knowledge and resources that you have. “You are doing the best you can with what you have.” AND now that you have different information, you can make different decisions!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today, I want you to focus on YOU in 3 ways (this will start you on your weight loss journey)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Stop criticizing yourself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;This can only lead to pain – notice how it makes you feel and STOP!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Say – “I like myself” “I am doing my best” “This is going to be a great day!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;These positive statements (affirmations) can be tremendously powerful and will “lift you up!” Say each a minimum of 20 times a day. (Go ahead, it won’t hurt! But the garbage you have been telling yourself will hurt. Please, just try it!)&lt;br /&gt;Connect with other like minded people – “surround yourself with positive”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;I’ve heard, “You can’t soar with the eagles when you hang with the turkeys!” Each person carries with themselves energy. (I didn’t thank you!)&lt;br /&gt;The OLD “me” would have eaten something. &lt;br /&gt;What was going on with me – why was I so impatient?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was impatient with MYSELF – and food wouldn’t work. &lt;br /&gt;I was upset that I hadn’t accomplished more. &lt;br /&gt;I was “taking it out” on him – and me. And since I spend HOURS each day researching this stuff, I figured it out – and spared my hips some padding.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As soon as you STOP and reflect you may discover your answers.&lt;br /&gt;Whatever your reaction to a situation – whether it’s overeating or fuming YOU set it up!&lt;br /&gt;You set it up and YOU need to get in touch with your feelings – to get peace!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are overeating, you are “eating” your emotions. You are “stuffing” your feelings, eating out of frustration, fear, stress, anxiety – call it what you will.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are overeating you are an emotional eater. Period!&lt;br /&gt;And, you are in pain – no matter what belief you are holding about being overweight, it is NOT the core reason for the weight, your thoughts are! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“My metabolism is slow,” (it probably is – and won’t get better until you stop dieting); &lt;br /&gt;“I am getting older” (we all are – you must re-program your brain – the weight will disappear). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3 steps to getting in touch with your feelings: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;STOP!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Ask, “What is going on here?”&lt;br /&gt;Notice that your brain (crazy mind) may give you some lies such as, “He is a ________ (choose your own label) and he/she is trying to disrupt my world.” &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;REFLECT – WRITE&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your brain’s job is to keep “running.” Unless you interrupt it with a good question, it will keep going – and drive you CRAZY! Ask, “What is going on here?” and write in your journal (or paper or PC – whatever – just WRITE!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;KNOW&lt;/strong&gt; that it is about YOU – not “them” (the perceived enemy who is ruining your life). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;RESUME &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ask, “Am I now at peace? Do I know what was going on? I was in the kitchen “pumping myself up for my morning!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Do you need to get going FAST in the morning? I recommend the following:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;1. Use affirmations&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;I believe something wonderful is going to happen to me today!&lt;/em&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Brian Tracy&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;I deserve the best and I accept the best now! &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Louise Hay&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;I weigh (128, 138, 148, 158, 168 – etc.) and I feel GREAT! &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;-Paula Guilfoyle&lt;br /&gt;Affirmations are goal oriented and may be a “stretch!” Write them so they are:&lt;br /&gt;personal positive present tense believable (with a stretch)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;2. Set the Timer!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;I am a person who can research like crazy and take a long time to implement. (Pre-Teens &amp; Cat Take Cover!)</title><content type='html'>I am jittery – a bit crazy – and I can’t seem to take my own advice!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My daughter left in tears&lt;br /&gt;The cat brought an “unexpected guest” into the house&lt;br /&gt;I was trying to CONTROL EVERYTHING&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I try to CONTROL EVERYTHING I know that I am feeling out of control!&lt;br /&gt;I know that I am NOT living in the moment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It all started with the cat, or the pre-teen – whichever!&lt;br /&gt;Ginger peed on Mel’s soccer stuff – cleats, shirt, bag, - you know the drill.&lt;br /&gt;Melia freaked when I told her to bring the (very smelly) bag into the kitchen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“You are SO selfish Mom – you will only do stuff for YOU!”&lt;br /&gt;“OK, pre-teen hormones,” I thought. (I forgot to think, “Be in the moment.”)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then Ginger (I do love that cat) walked by with something hanging from his mouth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Chippy!” Mel screamed. “He got another Chipmunk! Mom, get it before Ginger kills it!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I thought I loved that cat.&lt;br /&gt;I tried to take the chipmunk out of his mouth.&lt;br /&gt;Ginger dropped it – chipmunk flew out of site.&lt;br /&gt;I think, “I’ll handle this later – back to the moment.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, I deliver laundry to Mel’s room. I open the door.&lt;br /&gt;“MOM, I am getting dressed in here!”&lt;br /&gt;By now I have allowed my mind to go CRAZY thinking about what I need to get done, and I immediately snap.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“_______(expletive deleted) Melia I am DELIVERING YOUR _____ (delete again) laundry! Give me a break!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My hormones surge.&lt;br /&gt;Her hormones surge.&lt;br /&gt;Husband wakes up in the next room.&lt;br /&gt;Ginger the cat runs outside to look for another chipmunk.&lt;br /&gt;By now I am almost shaking.&lt;br /&gt;I go to the bedroom and announce, “Intervention needed!”&lt;br /&gt;My husband groans but walks over and hugs me (he is a BRILLIANT man!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I decide to take a “Mommy time out” knowing I am CRAZZZZY!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How to be in the moment (otherwise known as me talking myself “down”)&lt;br /&gt;Take a deep breath&lt;br /&gt;Breathe again you nutcase! (oops – crazy voice from my mind)&lt;br /&gt;STOP and be in the moment&lt;br /&gt;Try again – this time – really focus&lt;br /&gt;You are resisting – just try to smile&lt;br /&gt;That’s better – smile (endorphins being released)&lt;br /&gt;Now look at your surroundings – focus (not too bad)&lt;br /&gt;Don’t go into your head – look at the sky (beautiful sky – I feel better)&lt;br /&gt;Breathe again&lt;br /&gt;Breathe again&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you can, take 10 minute time out (I feel like I can’t)&lt;br /&gt;Ask, “What is going on?”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am stressed – too much to do!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What do you need to do first?&lt;br /&gt;Alright, back to the present.&lt;br /&gt;Look at your fingers – breathe.&lt;br /&gt;Better? I believed that I was the only one who could do it.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yesterday she said that she not only lost the weight but “I have seen a lot changes – this program has had a ripple effect. It has enabled me to look at the value of what I do and realize that it’s OK to change. I recognize that I don’t have to go down a certain path.” I asked what has helped her the most. “It was having you tell us to ask ourselves, “What do I want? And “How can I take better care of myself?” It has given me so much insight into my life and so much relief because I have stopped doing things that build resentment and stress.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Well, I would rather be comforted by food,” you say. Yes, I can understand. But that is temporary comfort. Permanent comfort comes from understanding what is going on in your life, knowing that your feelings are why you are eating, and facing your feelings. This is true freedom – an amazing transformation – that is available to you!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another new client talked about trying to comfort herself with eating before she started using the tools from the program. She said, “When I was confronted by a major loss last week I knew that I would want to eat – and eat.  So, instead of my usual food I binged on air popped popcorn mixed with a little microwave popcorn. The bowl that I used was HUGE (because the emotional hole that she was trying to fill was huge). I knew that I didn’t want to face the loss. So, I stuffed – ate and ate – I didn’t want to deal with it – didn’t want to understand. The small change that I made was the “safer” food. But then I knew that I was still eating out of avoidance – still not connecting. Later I stopped eating and asked, “What is going on here?” And, since you showed me how to connect, I was able to feel the feeling and not run from it. That gave me a peace that the food couldn’t give to me. Well, I also don’t believe in sharing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In my house I hide brownies. My “source” supplies brownies that are so rich that I cut them into 16 little pieces so that I can savor them whenever I want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I hide them in the freezer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Because I am a woman of my word!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I tell my clients:&lt;br /&gt;- eat when “just” hungry – not “starved”&lt;br /&gt;- eat food you LOVE,&lt;br /&gt;          (no low fat, sugar free garbage unless you LOVE it!)&lt;br /&gt;- sit and savor food,&lt;br /&gt;- until you are satisfied&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I suggest that they have plenty of their favorite foods available to them so they don’t feel deprived.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am not deprived – until last night!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I came out of my daughter’s room at her bedtime looking for Ginger the Cat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And - looking forward to my snack.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There he was: my husband casually walking into the living room –&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;with MY BROWNIE in his grubby hand!&lt;br /&gt;MY BROWNIE!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I went crazy!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The brownie was only ½” square (memorial service scheduled today) but I spotted it from the distance and lept at him.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“I can’t believe that you are eating my brownie!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Give it to me! David, really, it’s MY BROWNIE!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I honestly felt panicked!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My daughter heard the noise and ran to her father’s aid.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Here, eat the brownie Melia!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He popped it into her mouth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I went CRAZY!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“That is MY BROWNIE!” I heard myself yell.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“Great!” I screamed, “She’ll never get to sleep now!” (neither would I)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was incensed - out of control.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This episode continued for over an hour – in my head anyway.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I brought Melia back to bed (after she danced – no lie – for 15 minutes – on her caffeine and sugar high).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was never told where the rest of the brownie stash was (still don’t know as of this writing).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But I kept yelling (somewhat – but not entirely in jest) from her bedroom:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“BROWNIE STEALER!”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They both thought that this was hilarious. (I was still frustrated).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What happened?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1.     I still don’t know where the d___ brownies are!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2.     I was so agitated (true confession) that I ate some other chocolate, took a sleeping pill and went to bed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3.     I am over it (I am heading out as soon as I finish writing this for a new stash – and he won’t find them this time!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4.     I will make sure that he never runs out of Kit Kats again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5.     I didn’t threaten him with “never having marital relations again” (my daughter was in the room after all)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6.     Just thinking about this still makes me CRAZY!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;DEPRIVATION!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am not exaggerating when I say that I was:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Panicked&lt;br /&gt;Crazy&lt;br /&gt;Insane&lt;br /&gt;Irrational&lt;br /&gt;“Starved”&lt;br /&gt;Desperate&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I could not believe my reaction. (That’s a lie – yes I could!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So what happened? Aren’t I supposed to be the one in CONTROL?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After all, I am teaching self-love –&lt;br /&gt;(but note: not love for family members who steal)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;and losing weight through connection with your beliefs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WHAT HAPPENED?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was deprived.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“WHY DIETS DON’T WORK – PART I”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Results of a study of “normal” men – deprived of 50% of their calories:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(Less drastic than many diets)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;THEY WENT CRAZY!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Angry&lt;br /&gt;Depressed&lt;br /&gt;Hoarding (sounds like me but give me a break!)&lt;br /&gt;Stealing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BINGEING (big surprise)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The bingeing got worse when the study ended 6 months later.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“They were never the same again.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(“Good,” one of my clients said “they became just like women.”)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What’s the point?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1.     I still have some work to do if I was triggered like that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Full disclosure:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My WWMM (Wild Wicked Mean Me) brain torments me with:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“How can you teach other women to lose weight when you were triggered?”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I don’t know – but I can. I’ll get back to you on that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2.     As soon as we feel deprived we go BEZERK!&lt;br /&gt;More truth: it was the first time in ages I have felt deprived.&lt;br /&gt;I still have some work to do.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3.     You must allow yourself to eat ALL your favorite foods (counter intuitive I know, but I, and my clients do it every day).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4.     Diets don’t work (more on this later)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And finally, forgive me for being human (I mean it – but it’s the only way I can be) and still be successful at “living like a normal person” when it comes to food. But you do.&lt;br /&gt;You have a choice – choose peace – with yourself.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I was going through my divorce I didn’t like myself (one of many times) and I had a difficult time being compassionate towards others. I had a difficult time loving myself, accepting the situation, my (then husband’s) actions, the world. Then, during a counseling session our marriage counselor gave us a quote that I suspected was from AA – just by the language – but I never checked it until yesterday.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is a quote about acceptance – which leads to peace.&lt;br /&gt;And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation -- some fact of my life – unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place,&lt;br /&gt;thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.&lt;br /&gt;AA Big Blue Book page 449 (3rd Edition) &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You have a choice to accept what “is” because you can’t change it.&lt;br /&gt;You can only change how you react - what you DO.&lt;br /&gt;It is up to you.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Acceptance = peace.&lt;br /&gt;Resistance = torturing yourself.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“What you resist persists”&lt;br /&gt;What is your choice?&lt;br /&gt;Choose peace. Are you happy right now?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If not, why not?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why are you choosing to not be happy in the moment?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;NOW is the ONLY time that you have to be happy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can’t be happy in the past.&lt;br /&gt;You can’t be happy in the future. &lt;br /&gt;You can only be (happy, peaceful, joy-filled) NOW.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today’s choices make tomorrow’s future.&lt;br /&gt;STOP thinking about tomorrow. &lt;br /&gt;Focus on today. So, here's the question...What do you want to avoid, and Why?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;TIP:&lt;/strong&gt; Talk to Yourself. When you are eating without being hungry, ask yourself, "what am i feeling?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Frequently, my clients are not in touch with:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;-Why they are eating...&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;-Whether they are hungry...&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;-And what is prompting their overeating.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Does this sound like you?&lt;/strong&gt; When you find yourself going for more food, (hint: you are not necessarily hungry!) you should stop and be curious. That's all - just see if you can get in touch with what's going on. Notice that what comes up may surprise you - IF you are honest with yourself!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In my "Losing Weight, Gaining You" program, my clients get in touch with their feelings and learn how to change the way they feel, and deal with emotional eating.
